Story: Montgomery, AL rockers EVOLETT take their name from a character in fantasy film 10,000 BC -- a pretty young girl whose doe-eyed beauty conceals the soul of a warrior. The band is fronted by 19-year-old Haden Brightwell, whose sweet countenance can’t disguise a big, belting voice capable of tearing a hole in the hull of an oil tanker. Coincidence? We think not.
EVOLETT is where melody and musical might meet, where wailing, weapons-grade guitar licks erupt into infectious choruses that reverberate in your head for days – and not because you’ve got tinnitus. The band’s debut album, For Your Consideration, finds its sonic center in the highly combustible, hard-hitting combination of Brightwell’s pealing-bell pipes and her bandmates’ churning, chomping riffs, achieving the perfect balance of brawn and beauty. The foundation of EVOLETT was forged in 2008, and today Brightwell, guitarist Adam Jessamine, guitarist Russ Daly, and bassist Jake Sloan stand ready to take the band to a lofty level. Musically, they find inspiration in a broad spectrum of sounds, drawing on everything from Underoath’s metalcore and the post-hardcore of Taking Back Sunday to the industrial rock of Nine Inch Nails and the doom-metal roar of Sleep. In less than two years together, EVOLETT has taken the alternative rock scene by storm, sharing stages with a stellar batch of bands including Mae, Neon Trees, Terrible Things, NeverShoutNever, Cartel, Mayday Parade, and Hot Rod Circuit.
